Job Purpose
The Energy Team oversees Khazanah’s direct investments in the energy sector, both private and public investments. The primary role of the team is to drive commercial return for private investment and develop strategic asset to deliver long-term economic benefits for the nation. The team leads strategic efforts, investment, monetization and reinvestment initiatives for Khazanah in the energy sector.
Job Description
Development and evaluation of strategic/investment/divestment strategy
- To develop strategic plans and investment/divestment strategies and approach
- To help prepare investment/divestment Proposal papers
- To lead financial assessments, fundamental analyses and coordinate due diligence activities
- To actively help in deal structuring and execution plan
- To actively participate in the negotiation and execution of transaction documents
Lead post-investment monitoring and reporting
- To support the team in monitoring and managing existing and new investments, including monthly and quarterly investment management and monitoring report reports and reviews
- To actively plan and drive value creation initiatives for the various investments made
- To actively engage with key stakeholders in investee companies, including partners, business owners and management teams, in delivering value creation plans and addressing business challenges
External Engagement
- To build and maintain meaningful network of relationships with investee companies, advisors, industry players, government representatives and regulators.
- To keep track of industry developments such as market outlook and strategy research
Other Responsibilities
- To contribute to and execute team process improvements
- To collaborate with other relevant Investment teams or other division in cross-functional initiatives on investments or monitoring efforts
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in a relevant functional discipline (Direct PE investments, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets or Transaction Services) gained within Institutional Investment firms, Investment Banks, PE funds, Asset Management or similar roles within large corporates and advisory firms.
- Strong investment acumen, excellent modeling and analytical skills.
- Ability to take initiative and be self-directed towards completing lead assignments effectively and efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at a senior level both internally and externally.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or
relevant disciplines. Alternatively, other qualifications coupled with relevant track record or direct experience in
performing quantitative / financial / investment / investment structuring analyses would be considered.
