Job Purpose

The Dana Impak Asset Class team oversees the strategy and execution of new investments by Khazanah that are thematically strategic to the country. The group leads the origination, investment, portfolio management and monetization initiatives for Khazanah’s Dana Impak investment portfolio.

Job Description

Development of investment strategy 

  • To assist in the development of overall investment strategies and approach for identified Dana Impak themes and sectors 
  • To assist in planning and carrying out sector-based and theme-based coverage activities for origination, deal sourcing and relationship development  


Investment evaluation

  • To support the development of investment theses with the respective Sector teams and assist in developing an investment pipeline for deal sourcing and origination 
  • To assist in the preparation of investment proposal papers based on investment strategies and approaches developed 
  • To lead financial analysis and fundamental analysis related to investment proposals and coordinate due diligence activities as and when required 
  • To assist in the evaluation of risks appropriately for each investment proposals 
  • To actively assist in investment structuring, negotiation, and execution of transaction documents 


Post-investment monitoring and reporting 

  • To support the Dana Impak team on monitoring and managing activities of existing and new investments, including collaborating with the relevant Sector teams 
  • To actively contribute towards and monitor value creation initiatives for the various investments made 
  • To actively engage with key stakeholders in investee companies, including partners, business owners and management teams, in delivering value creation plans and addressing business challenges 
  • To prepare monthly and quarterly investment management and monitoring reports and reviews 

Stakeholder engagement 

  • To build, develop and maintain meaningful network of relationships with business partners, advisors, government and regulatory bodies and other intermediaries  


Other Responsibilities

  • To contribute towards and execute team process improvements
  • To provide support in yearly investment budgeting / allocation planning and actively contribute in team meetings 
  • To monitor market and industry developments for deal sourcing opportunities 
  • To support team in maintaining CRM database of contacts and coverage notes 
  • To collaborate with other relevant Investment sector and geography teams where necessary and contribute to sharing of research or insights with the wider Investments division 

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant functional discipline (private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, management consulting) gained within private equity funds, institutional investment firms, investment banks, consulting firms or similar roles within large corporates. 
  • Has strong prior background and interests in evaluating businesses. This includes ability to evaluate sector, geographic, macroeconomic and regulatory developments and assess the relevant impact on performance and financial returns. 
  • Excellent financial modeling, analytical and presentation skills. 
  • Knowledge of direct private equity transactions, investment analyses and structuring deals (including knowledge on legal concepts applicable to private equity settings) is highly preferred. 
  • Strong team player with high initiative, strong leadership traits and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate in a high-performing and fast paced team 
  • Strong networking base and skills with ability to effectively engage and influence senior level internal and external stakeholders across both public and private sector 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders 


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s Degree in a financial or STEM discipline. Alternatively, other qualifications coupled with a relevant track record or direct experience in performing quantitative / financial / investment / investment structuring analyses would be considered.
