Job Purpose

  1. Manage and execute equities outsourcing mandates globally to achieve Khazanah’s overall long-term Strategic Asset Allocation and target return, as agreed with Managing Director, Head of Commercial Fund and Head of Public Market; and 
  2. Manage and monitor external fund managers’ performances and risk-return targets.
     

Job Description

EFM selection

  1. Manage the overall funds outsourcing mandate on an ongoing basis by conducting screening, due diligence exercises to identify suitable fund houses to manage Khazanah funds regionally.
  2. Formulate and implement processes and procedures to select EFMs which include analysing potential managers’ ex-post performances and other qualitative criterias, interview, engage and due diligence potential managers.
  3. Liase with internal and external parties to onboard selected managers including reviewing and negotiating fee structure, Investor Management Agreements, TOEs where applicable.
  4. Create and maintain database of potential managers in each region.

 

EFM Management and Monitoring 

  1. Review EFMs' performances through regular engagement / discussion to ensure that EFMs are managing Khazanah funds appropriately to meet target returns.
  2. Perform performance analysis periodically (such as Sharpe Ratio, standard deviation and other performance metrics where applicable).
  3. Provide regular updates on EFMs’ performances including presenting to the Investment Committee where applicable.
  4. Counsel and provide strategic advice to the team leads and Head of Public Market regarding the latest EFM related trends and competitive landscape, as and when required.
  5. Share with the wider investment team researches on managers and/or views or insights obtained via engagement with managers.
  6. Participate in and contribute to weekly Public Market business unit’s meetings and/ or investment recommendation meetings.

 

Stakeholder Management 

  1. Maintain positive relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders within the organization, and related external parties to build and nurture strategic long term relationships.
  2. Work closely with external managers, consultants, brokers, external counsels and other divisions within Khazanah (where applicable) to achieve optimal performance.

Job Requirements

Preferred industry exposure, in:

  • Manager researcher / Consultant
  • Asset allocation; and/or
  • Equity Research; and/or 
  • Portfolio Management

 

Skill and Knowledge:

  • Manager researching skills;
  • Asset allocation and/or macro knowledge;
  • Portfolio analytics; and
  • Capable for building and maintaining effective networking with asset managers, asset owners, and other stakeholders.
